Wonder-boy Roy Krishna was the hero of the Fiji soccer team as the Juan Carlos Buzzetti coached side defeated Play Fair Brazil 1-0 in their second and last friendly at Govind Park this afternoon and leveled the series 1-1.

Krishna struck in the 31st minute of the first spell after Ilisoni Logaivou, Taione Kerevanua and Ilimotama Jese combined well in midfield to send a through pass to the Siberia lad who beat the experienced Brazilian defence and goalie Fabio Santiago in style.

The touring Play Fair Brazil side defeated Fiji 2-1 in the first of their two friendly matches tonight at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The side laced with the likes of Paulo Sergio, Giovanni, Emerson da Silva, Carlos da Silva and Jose Almeida found the going tough against their youthful and more energetic opponents who played with a lot of passion and determination.

Matirerega, Rao get the call-up

TWO secondary school players have forced their way into the Fiji squad to face the Fair Play Brazil team in the two-match Vodafone-sponsored series later this week.

They include Rusiate Matirerega and Junior Narend Rao. Matirerega, the son of former Fiji, Nadi and Lautoka striker Watisoni Voli guided the Central College team to back-to-back under-19 titles during the Tuckers Ice Cream Fiji Secondary Schools Soccer Championship in Ba on Sunday.
